Saudia Arabia and Killing

With Saudia Arabia on the UNs council of human rights you would think that they wouldn't execute. Well wrong. Saudi Arabia is actually looking for more executioners, with 85 people already executed this year alone, much more are expected to be executed. So Saudia Arabia is looking to fulfill eight more executioner positions that require beheadings and amputations for smaller offenses. This job requires low skill, and gives a low tier of pay. With executions in the rise since last August, some are questioning the basis for these killings. Especially drug related offenses, which have no real harm.

Addition to the Tree of Life

The climate has been going through a drastic change and much of it has affected the ocean and its inhabitants. The inhabitants known as microbes have been studied for a long time and until recent years they have show lots of change in behavior and their own existence. These creatures are what's thought to be in the evolutionary step of man. These tiny creatures have been affected by the change in temperature over the past years due to climate change. What's happening to these microbes is a prime example of mans effect on the environment destroying our world and its other inhabitants and if we want to continue living on this world we need to clean it up or else we will live in a world with no beauty.

Neanderthal Art

After the retreat of Neanderthals across Europe modern humans made their ways to these caves. These caves hold their first depictions of art. Chauvet Cave in France holds early mans depictions of buffalo, rhinos battling, lions and horses. This cave is remaining closed for the sake of preserving the art. But a nearby cave will open with recreations of the art made in it for the public to witness. Scientists believe that the rock art is 32,000-36,000 years old. Although some archaeologists have found cave paintings as old as 75,000 years old.

Japan is a bunch of jerks

Japan's bloody dolphin hunts have gotten the country's aquariums suspended from the world body that oversees the humane treatment of animals in captivity. That's what Switzerlands World Association of Zoos and Aquariums Japanese affiliate said. These dolphin hunts are conducted in the fall and winter in the port of Taiji. JAZA (Japanese Aquarium and Zoo Association) failed to reach an agreement with WAZA over the hunts. With Japanese conservatives wanting the hunts to stop and even going so far as to opposing the captivity of dolphins in Japan.

Hubble

Since the Hubble space telescope was launched in 1990, it's faced ridicule and glory. Having been known as the greatest achievement in astronomy since Galileos. The telescope would face several service trips by astronauts till the last one in 2004.The first service trip would be due to a paint problem on the telescope causing the images it took to appear blurred. The technology the telescope would utilize would be derived of spy technology used by the U.S. And with the use of mirrors to collect the images we get a full spectrum view of all the colors the heavens have to offer.  Today celebrates its 25th anniversary of being in space since its launch April 24th 1990.

Shyrokene, a city between the Russian and Ukrainian militant forces. The city recently has experienced a signing of a ceasefire, which is facing scrutiny due to fighting that keeps breaking out. With land mines and traps set all over the city, the residents have experienced a whole year of war near them. With both sides seeking to gain the city the ceasefire doesn't seem to want to hold. Especially with the innocent being hurt, such as a Russian journalist that stepped on a trip wire and was blown away.

Murdering the Innocent

Far too many people are convicted of horrible crimes in which they have not committed. A macabre club of people that have been killed then later found innocent has 152 members. However some people are lucky and are exonerated before they are put to death and even then they serve a life sentence. It is suspected that many more people have had the same fate. In the past year alone there has been nine people freed from a death sentence because of their innocence. It's all too common for cases to be debunked after such a consequence such as death is received, and then prosecuted. It just takes time and consideration for the death penalty to be pursued.

Amphetamines for vitamins

Some leading vitamin stores have taken a supplement off their shelves this week. These supplements held a stimulant in them called BMPEA. The chemical has been studied back in the 1930's and was shown to be closely related to amphetamines. In December of last year Canadian health authorities pulled these supplements off the shelves. With the supplement having the chance to cause stroke, and other serious cardiovascular complications. The FDA in 2013 found the BMPEA ingredient found in several weight loss and workout supplements. However they did not name them.

European Unions Army

The European Union wants a army of its own. President of the European Union Jean-Claude Juncker proposed to establish a army for the union. The Army is needed to counter such security threats, such as Russia. Juncker told a german newspaper that an army serving for the European Union would improve collective security and reduce costs of the individual countries. Russian politicians however believe that the army would provoke conflicts with Russia. In my opinion I believe the European Union should create an army, due to the conflicts in Ukraine with Russia and growing insurgency and militant groups.

Climate change

Tuesday The White House announced that blue prints for Obamas climate change initiative will cut green house emissions by 1/3 at least. The U.S. and China are the two largest producers of green house gases, in November obama and Xi Jinping (China's president) plan to give their plans for green initiatives. Obama has many domestic plans for this, such as freezing construction of coal fired factories, increasing fuel economy of vehicles, and plugging methane leaks. But the plan relies largely on executive authority but with a republican locked congress this will be hard to pass.

No Water No Life

With the worlds population expected to hit 9 Billion people around 2050 already depleted ground water supplies seem to be running out. The UNs Water Development report claims that 20% of all ground water is already overexploited, and the problem will only worsen with a growing population. Alarmingly the report claims that by 2020 the world will have only 60% of the water it needs to operate. "Unless the balance between demand and finite supply is restored the world will face an increasingly severe global water deficit." More than ever we need to stop wasting our clean water.

Legalized Drugs in Potato Country

Ireland had a court ruling that resulted in legalization temporarily of many drugs. The case was over a Lithuanian man running a head shop selling the drug "cat". The outcome of the court's decision was that ecstasy, ketamine and crystal meth were legal in the country. Till legislation changes it. Which sent country into an emergency legislation to get the drugs off the streets and make them illegal yet again. The ruling does not cover pot, coke, and heroin. The court ruling made additions to the Misuse of Drugs act of 1977 in Ireland.

Children Dying

When children die of malaria it tends to be due to their brains swelling from severe onset of the disease.  A new study found that, and with this information medical treatments against malaria can become improved. The disease malaria is said to have killed 1/3 of all humans to have ever lived. But it's spread by mosquitoes, and has yet to have a cure but there is drugs that help with the disease. Cerebral malaria, which is extremely dangerous is what was detected in this study and found to have extreme swelling in the brain for those who've died.

Belgium Coke

15 miles off the Belgian port of Ostend in the North Sea authorities found a ton of cocaine. Maritime police used a tugboat with a crane to collect the drugs and bring it to shore. The drugs were from a pilot boat, when personnel noticed the drugs in several duffel bags and threw it off the boat. The drugs were confiscated and valued at 50 million euros at least. To avoid customs and charges drug smugglers tend to abandon the drugs.  With 2650 pounds of cocaine the authorities definitely scored this time.

Kill Yourself For Mother Earth

Every year nearly 40,000 Americans kill themselves, most are men, and most are done with guns. In fact more than half of American firearm deaths are from suicide. Suicide is difficult to predict and often many experts believe if you are intent on dying no matter what you'll find a way. What advocates against suicide are trying to do is suicide proof the world, which is quite hard. No matter how many fences there is. But one thing advocates are working towards is stricter gun laws, to make mentally ill people unable to own a gun. Which to me infringes on our constitutional rights. What they mean to do is find a way to keep guns and suicidal people away. But underlying mental illness isn't quite easy. Due to the subtleness of the symptoms of depression, which almost everyone experiences in their lifetimes.

Missing Man

IJanuary 29th 2013, Chalachew Seyoum was climbing a remote hill known to hold fossils when he looked into the sediment and saw a tooth, which was then connected to a mandible (jawbone).  Seyoum who is a graduate student of paleontology had made a discovery of a bone that provides evidence of evolution. The jawbone being 2.8 million years old it's thought to be of homo habilis but it predates other fossils by 400,000 years. The jawbone is shown to be only 200,000 years younger than the more ape like evolutionary steps. Wednesday being the day that scientists of the Arizona university announced that they would begin reconstruction of Homo Habilis, this could have a major effect on the theory of evolution and hold that it is no longer a theory.

Destruction of Artifacts by Towel Niggers

ISIS the muslim militant state has taken over Mosul, Iraq. In doing so they posted a video of a beheading. But not one of what you would think. The belligerent, barbaric, crude  militant fighters entered a Iraqi musuem and targeted ancient artifacts. Knocking them on the ground grabbing sledgehammers and jackhammers, they videotaped themselves destroying ancient statues and artifacts. There was additional reports that earlier in the week that ISIS had captured Mosuls central library and burnt over 8,000 rare books and manuscripts. The video was later posted on Twitter with ISIS logo on the screen showing it came from their media branch. The UN commented on their acts calling it "cultural cleansing".

From Food to Waste

With millions of households in America struggling for enough food, we as Americans waste $162 million dollars of food. The food waste has caused economic and environmental problems. With about 32 metric tons of food waste landfills are filling up quick. However this problem is not just limited to the United States. A report estimates that nearly a third of all food in the world made is wasted. The total cost of that food waste is between $300 Billion to $400 Billion dollars. However if we reduced food waste we could solve our malnourished issue and our economic issue and environmental problems from the waste.

Getting Off Free

William Dehayes, last July was practicing gun slinging when he accidentally fired the gun. The firearm shot Katherine Hoover, Williams friends wife right in the temple. Mrs Hoover was five months pregnant at the time. The medics got there and brought Hoover to the hospital in the hopes to save the mother and the child. Sadly both died. Medical examiners ruled the deaths as homicides, but no charges are filed against William. According to the Daily Beast William clear feels very bad about what happened, in an interview with the local sherif, he said "I haven't slept in three days trying to figure out how the gun went off". This is a clear example of stupidity at its finest

Humans Killing Humans

Yet again the question on weather or not lethal injection is humane for a death sentence. Many people on death row have made a case about how lethal injection causes severe pain and a slow death. The Supreme Court stepped in to take the case of Warner v. Gross a lawsuit brought by four Oklahoma death row inmates who pleaded that the Lethal injection caused severe pain and suffering. Many think that the idea of a humane death penalty is quite contradictory to themselves. But the act itself is brutal and violent and should just pursue to the level of which they shouldn't consider it being humane if the person on death penalty has done something horrible to put them on death row.

AirAsia and Pain

This morning in the Indonesian ocean, divers started hauling up the dead bodies of flight 8501. The flight crashed December 28th, killing 162 people. A total of 115 victims are still unaccounted for. The plane left Indonesia city heading for Singapore. Since the crash the government had to locate the plane and wait for the weather to be calm enough so they could finally bring the bodies back from the water. With all the bodies in the fuselage and the divers locating the black box, the fear is that the plane stalled in the air.

Witchdoctors Albino Society in Tanzania

Tanzania has banned witch doctors in the country to help stop the killings of albinos in the country which their body parts are prized for the witchcraft acts. The acts that the witch doctors use with the body parts are to help bring good fortune and wealth. However how they get these body parts is the horrid part, with an instance of a gang of people stealing a 4 year old albino girl to use for this witchcraft act. The ban itself comes one week after the UN put pressure on the government to stop the killings of the albino society. With one in fourteen hundred Tanzanians being albino many are targeted by these doctors.

Death By Robot

At the human robot interaction laboratory in Tufts university the researchers have ran into a dilemma. It's a scenario, but beyond that it's led to the dilemma of whether or not a robot can make ethical choices. A woman is in pain and can't move, she has a robot assistant that gives her medicine and takes care of her. The robot has to ask a supervisor each time whether or not it can give the woman medicine, for the fear of an overdose or something of that sort. The woman is crying in pain for the robot to give her painkillers because she is experiencing a lot of pain. But however the network is down, and the robot can't reach the supervisor to tell it to give her medicine. What would the robot do? That's what the dilemma is. So the researchers at Tufts are trying to create ethical decisive skill for robots.

Gun-Running in the Jet Age

Most people who go to airports believe that the idea of smuggling a firearm through the security is impossible and would get you in trouble right away. To that a New York district attorney discovered that there was a security defect that most airports were prone to having. The defect being that airport security fails to screen workers such as mechanics, pilots, baggage handlers, and people of that sort. A scheme had been in place where five of those people had smuggled 153 firearms from Atlanta to New York in accomplices carry on bags. With "lax gun laws" according to the district attorney that this wouldn't happen if we had stricter gun laws. For that I disagree and believe that each person should be able to own a firearm for safety reasons.

San Pedro Sula Most Dangerous City in the World Third Year in a row

The beauty of San Pedro Sula is astounding, although it's a beautiful city it is known for one thing, being the most dangerous city in the world (excluding war zones) for the third year in a row. With a rate of 187 of 100,000  homicides per year it happens to be in the wraps of a growing in militarization and gangs. According to the Honduran government since 2003 47 journalists and media executives have been murdered in the city. With growth of cartels and drugs in the area, the city only grows more and more dangerous. Police armed to the teeth can't maintain the organized crime and guns around the city.
