Neanderthal Art

After the retreat of Neanderthals across Europe modern humans made their ways to these caves. These caves hold their first depictions of art. Chauvet Cave in France holds early mans depictions of buffalo, rhinos battling, lions and horses. This cave is remaining closed for the sake of preserving the art. But a nearby cave will open with recreations of the art made in it for the public to witness. Scientists believe that the rock art is 32,000-36,000 years old. Although some archaeologists have found cave paintings as old as 75,000 years old.
